Here are our recommended places to stay, with 5 Purple Monkeys being the highest, and 1 Purple Monkey, well, you get the idea. We will update this particular blog as we stay at more sites.
5 Purple Monkeys
Seven Feathers RV Resort (Canyonville, OR). By far, our favorite on the trip. Nice sized RV sites, very clean, great individual bathrooms, shuttle service 24/7 pretty much anywhere to the casino and in town, and indoor pool and hot tub. Online reservations. Only small drawback was no fire pits.
Flying Flags RV Resort (Buellton, CA near Solvang, CA). Comes in a close second. Get the premium RV sites, and you will have nice sized RV sites, very clean, great individual bathrooms, gas grill at site, fire pit, nice onsite store, small grill restaurant on site (open Wednesdays through Sundays), large dog run, three outdoor pools and hot tub. Online reservations. Drawbacks were other shopping/restaurants about 1.5 miles round trip and Resort very popular with families (meaning it could get a bit loud).
4 Purple Monkeys
Durango RV Resort (Red Bluff, CA). Nice sized RV sites, very clean, nice community bathrooms with locked shower stalls, small, but nice dog run, dog wash station (pay as you go) outdoor pools and hot tub. Online reservations. Drawbacks were other shopping/restaurants about 1 mile round trip, only two buildings with restrooms/showers for size of place, and the site can get hot during the summer.
Flag City RV Resort (Lodi, CA). Nice sized RV sites, very clean, nice community bathrooms with locked shower stalls, small, but nice dog run, dog wash station (pay as you go) outdoor pools and hot tub, other restaurants about 0.5 mile round trip. Drawbacks is that the site can get hot during the summer and no online reservations (you submit a form and they might call you back).
Hilton Garden Inn (Renton, WA). Nice hotel, great indoor pool and hot tub, shuttle service to local metro train (Light Rail) and airport, and RV parking (27 foot Class B or C or under). Online reservations.
Southern Oregon RV Park. Great RV sites, very clean, great individual bathrooms, nice fire pit, and close to a Pilot Gas Station. You get to choose your exact site at online registration Drawbacks are no pool or hot tub.
3 Purple Monkeys
Mountain Gate RV Park (Redding, CA). Decent sized RV sites, free coffee and danish in the mornings, quaint on-site store, very friendly staff, pool, hot tub, and decent bathrooms.
San Francisco Resort (Pacifica, CA). Decent sized RV sites, nice on-site store, friendly staff, pool, hot tub, and decent bathrooms. You are paying a premium for the views. Online reservations.
Santee Lakes Recreational Reserve (Santee Lakes, CA). Nice sized RV sites, very clean, nice community bathrooms with locked shower stalls. If you enjoy nature, this is where you want to be. Online reservations with ability to choose your exact site (just have their map handy). Drawbacks are that the office/store/rental is about 1 mile away (and no dogs allowed in that area), bathrooms are kind of far away, and the RV sites are on dirt (it is a camping ground after all). Also, no children under 18 allowed in the hot tub.
Silver Cove RV Resort (Silver Lake, WA). Nice sized RV sites, and very clean. You can rent kayaks and paddle boards. If you enjoy nature, choose back-in RV sites, as you will have a backyard that is a gorgeous setting. Drawbacks are that it is not close to fast food or restaurants. Online reservations.
2 Purple Monkeys
Paso Robles RV Park (Paso Robles, CA). A decent place to stay overnight on your way into or out of the Solvang area. It is very quiet, even though it is just off the freeway. It is not close to any shopping or restaurants.
Santa Nella RV Park (Santa Nella, CA). A decent place to stay overnight on I-5 if you are in the Central California area. It is quiet and has RV sites. It is close to restaurants.
Valencia Travel Village (Castaic, CA). A decent place to stay overnight on your way into or out of the Los Angeles area, and has a decent sized dog run. However, there are no fire pits, the spaces are kind of close together, and it is gravel. It is also not close to any shopping or restaurants.
1 Purple Monkey
Waiiaka RV Park (Yreka, CA). Skip this unless it is your last resort (as in possibility, not RV Resort).
